Athus Steel Industry Museum

More than 500 tools, documents, models in work and protective clothing, and photographs illustrate and bring to life this important industrial era in the south of Belgium.There is also a 20 minute documentary film show. (Original text by MT du Pays d'Arlon)All started in 1872 when the d'Huart family, ironmasters from Longwy founded the Société des Hauts-Fourneaux d'Athus steel company. In 1945, the S.A. Angleur-Athus company merged with John Cockrill's one. The industrial activity lasted until 1977. The company contributed to the social and economic development of the Souther Belgian Province of Luxembourg during more than a century. The presentation of this activity has been done by ancient steel workers who wanted to keep going the memory of this past period. All the steps of iron and rolled steel production are explained until the factory got turned into an European development pole
